The 10 Step Skincare Routine…
THE KOREAN 10 STEP SKIN CARE ROUTINE
If you don’t already know, South Korea is where it’s at for all things skincare. Personally, I love layering products ( because 10 is better than 1 right?). So when I found out that South Korean women actually do this too …. awww I was elated.
I would like to preface this by saying that I am a busy mom of two that works full time so I totally get thinking there is no way you will have time for this. However, most of these steps are just layering an additional product on so it doesn’t always take that much time. I’ll do a quick summary of the steps and list some product recommendations but for a more in depth explanation of the steps check it out SOKOGLAM .
MAKEUP REMOVER & OIL CLEANSER
. This step is the first because it removes most, if not all of your makeup and preps it for the cleanser. Watch this video for a tutorial. My picks are:
Yep, that’s right cleanse again. This time you will be using a water based cleanser to wash the oil and any other remaining impurities off the skin. This one is my favorite, but also look into these:
Shed those dead skin cells and reveal softer brighter skin. Choose from these favorites:
Because everyone’s skin type is so different it’s important to choose the best kind of toner for your skin type. My recommendations based on skin type-
Known as the heart of Korean skincare. Steps 5,6, and 7 are my favorite because by being consistent with these steps you will start to see a huge improvement in your skin. Here are some essence that I like best:
SERUMS, BOOSTERS & AMPOULES
Time for treatment products—consider boosters, serums and ampoules the concentrated essence. You apply these in the same fashion, it’s all about the tap! These products can address any issue including brightening, pore-refining, pigmentation, wrinkles, acne—this is your skin-perfecting step. ( source: SOKOGLAM )
* Personally, I find that products with high concentrations of glycolic acid and retinol give me the most results for brighter skin and an improvement of tone and texture- but please be careful when using these products and read the instructions and wear extra sunblock!
I LOVE masks. I mean I really love them, and do them at least 3x per week. Choosing the right mask(s) is very personal based on your skin type. I use a variety but mostly alternate between a detoxifying clay mask and an enzyme peel mask. Korean sheet masks are also great, especially to moisturize.
My picks for
To be honest I have tried so many eye creams and have yet to find a life changing one but these are in my line up.
Hydration, hydration, hydration! Get dewy skin by keeping it moist. I like to throw in an additional step here (crazy I know)- first I layer an oil. If it’s daytime I use a lighter one and let it set for 5 mins- gently dab away any excess and then add moisturizer. At night I use a richer oil.
I’m crazy about my sunscreen, especially because I use glycolic acids which can make your skin more photosensitve.
There you have it, 10 easy steps to great skin!
